The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Men's basketball team (6-0) topped Penn State Brandywine 94-79 in Tuesday night's conference matchup. The win was PSWB's fourth straight conference win of the season but also a historical moment for our head coach. With last night's win, Coach Hammett now has reached the 150 career win total, but it is also his 100th win as our head coach of the program. The 15 point win last night was led by freshman center Frantz Jean Pierre with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Kevin Major, who was last week's PSUAC player of the week scored 22 points and had 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Clifton Tracey gave the team a spark off the bench scoring 18 points and shooting 4-6 from the three-point line. The team went into halftime up 36-30 and found their offensive powers in the second half, scoring 58 points to get the 15 point win.
"Tonight was a special moment. To win both my 150th and my 100th game on the same night is definitely humbling and amazing. I'm grateful for our Athletic Director Scott Miner, for believing in me and most importantly grateful for every player who has played for me. I'm not successful without their hard work and efforts. From the players and coaching staff this moment was a group effort. I'm humbled by this accomplishment."
The men's & women's teams will now travel to Pittsburgh this weekend to play conference games at PSU Fayette & PSU Beaver. We wish our teams luck.
