Penn State Wilkes-Barre alumni and two time USCAA All-American golfer Jonathan Wilson teamed up with former Penn State Mont Alto golfer Austin Green to win their second consecutive Potentate Tournament, hosted by Irem Temple Country Club in Dallas, PA on Sunday August 2nd. The pair was coming off their tournament championship last year and managed to repeat the feat against a talented field of competitors. Wilson started their repeat run by hitting a clutch putt in the semifinals to eliminate the top-seeded duo and advance to the championship round. Wilson and Green began the championship round strong, jumping out to an early 3 stroke lead. Austin Green set the tone with a solid first five holes to help them build their lead. After the Penn State alumni duo both shot par on the tenth hole, their lead climbed to 4 strokes with 8 holes remaining. After an unfortunate tee shot from Green on the 15th hole, he was able to help seal the deal for himself and Wilson by hitting a great approach shot on to the green to set himself up for a one-putt birdie. Wilson and Green sealed the deal on their back-to-back titles through the final 3 holes. Wilson and Green defeated the competitive duo of Zach Mulhern and Chad DeBona to claim their second tournament title in as many years. Congratulations to the Penn State pair on their tremendous victory!
