PSU Honor both Men's and Women's Seniors as Both Teams Get the Win

It was Senior Night here at Penn State Wilkes Barre where all seniors on Men's and Women's Basketball were honored and thanked for their time and dedication to their team.

The Men's Team celebrated 6 Seniors, Jheron Dawson-Johnson, William Pierce, Ameer Biddle, David Rodgers, Mahda Brewah and Jordan Williams. Jheron Dawson-Johnson is a 5'9 guard from Philadelphia, PA who is studying Psychology. This is his 4th year here at Penn State Wilkes Barre and has amassed 450 points, 216 rebounds, 210 assists and 91 steals in 105 Games Played. 

Next up is William Pierce who is a 6'4 forward from Harrisburg, PA. Pierce is averaging 12.3 minutes per game this season as well as 2.5 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game. Pierce has played in 25 games this season and started 5 of them. 

Ameer Biddle is a 6'4 guard/forward who is from Arlington, VA. Biddle has created havoc for opposing offenses this season. Biddle is averaging 21.5 minutes per game this season. He is averaging 8.4 points, 4 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 1 block per game. 

David Rodgers is 6'6 forward from Perth Amboy, NJ who is studying Information Technology. Rodgers is averaging 8.0 minutes per game this season as well as, 3.3 points on 47.7% shooting and 1.8 rebounds per game.

Mahda Brewah is a 6'7 forward/center from Dover, DE. Brewah has played in 18 games this season and is averaging 4.3 minutes per game as well as, 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds per game. 

Jordan Williams is a 6'9 forward/center from Detroit, Mi who is studying Physical Therapy. Williams has played 24 games this season starting all of them and averaging 17 minutes per game. This season Williams is averaging 8.3 points and 4.8 rebounds and 1 assist per game. 

For the game on Friday against Penn State Schuylkill, Wilkes Barre started 5 of the seniors, Johnson, Biddle, Rodgers, Pierce and Williams with Brewah coming in off the bench. This game was close from the beginning however, an 11-0 Penn State Wilkes Barre run in the second half helped seal their victory. With 17:03 left in the second half the score 41-35 with Wilkes Barre leading. In less than a 3 minute span the game turned to 52-35 Wilkes Barre leading with 14:16 left in the game. Wilkes Barre rode that lead to the end winning 83-71. The leading scorer for Wilkes Barre was Levaugn Knight-Soules who scored 21 points on 8-11 shooting from thr field and 2-2 from 3, he also added 8 rebounds.  

The Men's next game is the PSUAC Playoff Game versus Penn State Hazelton on Tuesday February 19th at home at 8pm so come out and support your team as they try to go on a long playoff run in pursuit of a National Championship. 

The Woman's Team also won big on Friday against Penn State Schuylkill 74-33 which was their biggest win of the season. Wilkes Barre was led by Clairmanie Curtis and Alaena Lloyd who both scored 20 points. Curtis scored 20 points on 10-20 shooting and added 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals to her stat line. Lloyd scored 20 on 8-19 shooting from the field and 4-13 from 3. Lloyd also added 3 rebounds, 3 assist and 3 steals. Wilkes Barre forced 19 turnovers this game and held Schuylkill to just 35.9% shooting from the field and 9.1% from 3.
