Yesterday afternoon, the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Baseball team defeated Penn State Brandywine 8-2 in a 9 inning game. This victory put the team into first place in the East Division in the PSUAC. The offense was clicking from the start for PSU Wilkes-Barre. The player of the game was Zach Sott. He went 3-5 with 3 singles, 4 runs scored and 5 stolen bases. He was a force on the base paths, making the pitchers very careful when he got on base. Brian Hardiman went 2-4 with an RBI, and Keegan Kisner 1-4 with a 2 RBI single in the bottom on the 8th. Pitcher Jordan Choman was able to stifle PSU Brandywine while he was on the mound. He went 7.1 IP, 4 H, 5 BB, 2 ER, and 3 K on 103 pitches. PSU Brandywine was unable to get anything going on offense against Choman in the first 7 innings.
For PSU Brandywine, Pitcher Tyler Michaels was their workhorse on the mound. He went 6.1 IP, 8 H, 1 BB, 3 ER, and 5 K on 110 pitches. The defense was unable to give Michaels a lot of support, with 3 errors that led to 3 unearned runs. Brian Reynolds was their best player at the plate, going 1-3 with 1 walk and an RBI single.
The next game for PSU Wilkes-Barre will be Friday on the road against Penn State Scranton.
