Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Men's Basketball team came away with a hard fought victory tonight against Penn State Lehigh Valley, 83-54. This was the first round of the PSUAC Playoffs. The men jumped out to an early lead, and they never looked back after that. Even with early team foul trouble, the team was able to play lockdown defense, which helped them outscore Lehigh Valley by 22 in the first half. In the second half, they defense played even better, holding Lehigh Valley to 24 points.
The player of the game was Levaugn Soules, who led the team with 22 points and 11 rebounds. He shot an efficient 8-10 from the field and 6-7 from the free throw line. Wilkes-Barre had 3 other players in double figures. Davaughn Roberts and Kevin Silverberg both had 11 points, and Ameer Biddle had 10 points. Roberts also added 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The leading scorer for Lehigh Valley was Jonathan Buie with 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre will advance to the semi-finals of the PSUAC playoffs. Their next game will be Saturday against Penn State Greater Allegheny @ 3pm. The game will be played at Penn State Brandywine.
