Tomorrow night, the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Women's Basketball team will travel to Penn State Beaver in a first-round matchup for the PSUAC Playoffs. Beaver finished the season at 12-12, with a 11-3 conference record, while Wilkes-Barre ended the season at 12-8, and had a 7-7 conference record. Beaver took the only matchup of the regular season this past Saturday, with a final score of 74-40. With only one player for Wilkes-Barre scoring in double figures, the team will look to increase their offensive efficiency. However, the women won 5 of their last 7 games, and they will try to continue the success they were having. The defense will need to play tough to keep them in the game, as Beaver's offense has been clicking in their past 7 games, which all turned into victories.
Senior leader Jackie Rabender will have to use her leadership to motivate the team. She needs to emphasize the importance of every play, especially since this is a playoff game. On offense, Guards Raven Monet Kemper and Yasmine Montgomery will have to keep the team composed. They need to limit turnovers and make sure that the team is getting good, open shots. Kemper is averaging 12.6 PPG, 4.8 RPG and 2.8 APG, while Montgomery is averaging 11.2 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 2.8 APG and 2.1 SPG. Miranda Pace will need to keep grabbing rebounds, as she leads the team with 7.6 RPG.
Beaver is led by Senior Forward Brittany Jackson. She is averaging 19.3 PPG on 51.3% shooting from the field, along with 11.9 RPG. She also plays tough defense, with 2.5 SPG. Other key contributors for Beaver are Ally Rudolph (12.5 PPG) and Diamond Thomas (10.2 PPG). Beaver is currently on a 7 game winning streak.
Tomorrow's game is scheduled to start at 7 pm @ Penn State Beaver. Let's Go Lady Lions!
